Merging teams after business merger
Situation:
A regional airline acquired a competing airline in a business merger thus expanding its territory, aircrafts and number of employees.
The Challenges:
To bring management teams from the two airlines to work seamlessly together.
To help both teams adapt and ensure a mutual vision for the new organization.
To update the strategic plan.
Actions Taken:
Designed and facilitated Strategic Planning with the new management team in order to:
- Created a shared mission, values and vision for the merged organization.
- Assessed internal strengths and weaknesses as well as opportunities and threats facing the new organization and merger.
- Established measurable targets by setting goals and developing plans to reach them.
- Developed strategies and action plans to achieve the vision and targets.
- Updated the strategic plan five years later, involving the Board of Directors and a wider group of employees.
The Results:
Sessions created synergy and helped the management team to think and operate as one company.
Strengthened an alliance between the management and board of directors to make current and future changes easier to address.
